Lecture of Inna Gorshtein about Biblical Love in the Arts
August 4th, MoHo, Tel Aviv
Inna Gorshtein built her lecture on the basiсs of Meir Shalev's book "For the First Time in the Bible". We took passages from the Torah and discussed when the word LOVE first appeared in the Torah. Did Adam love Hava and Hava Adam. Who was the first mother who loved her son. Who was the only girl who was said to love a man? And why was the Song of Songs by King Solomon included in the Tanakh?
Each story was beautifully illustrated by famous artists of the last 10 centuries. In the end we had a discussion about how and when the concept of love and romance according to our understanding appeared in the world.
“I never thought about the fact that the word "ahava" appeared so rarely in the Torah. It was amazing for me to discover how we are trying to apply today's understanding of love to holy texts", – Sveta Kh.
Guided tour around the Biennale of Modern Israeli Art with Sasha Levina
August 25th, Muzeon Eretz Israel, Tel Aviv
We met at the entrance to the museum with Alexandra Levina, looked at several installations in open areas, then watched in the glass pavilion the Biennale exhibits– a pavilion-tower Migdal, a pavilion of ceramics, 2 more street installations "Not by bread alone" and "That which protects me".
After that we went to the Biennale exhibits in the main pavilion Rothschild, where we met one of the designers, Maya Gatenio, and asked questions about her work (dress with medieval embroidery).
"I was amazed by the installation "Mausoleum", which looks like the Kotel from the books of the "Jewish encyclopedia". It was an amazing tour after which I want to think about the connection between the past and the present, about the collective memory of the Jewish people. Thank you so much for taking us to places like this with cool guides"– Lyoka L.
