FRIDAY-SHABBAT SEMINAR #80 - THIS TIME FOR YOUNG FAMILIES! - KIBBUTZ ALMOG

18.09.2021

Shishi Shabbat Yisraeli held its first ever Friday-Shabbat Seminar geared towards (thought not only) the many young couples who met and married through Shishi Shabbat Yisraeli, and are today raising their young families in Israel!

Over 50 families signed up immediately, showing the incredible need for such weekends, but we narrowed the group down to 23 families (close to 100 participants) by focusing on the age group 3-8 for the children. We began with a hike in the Sataf Forest near Jerusalem with activities for the children, brought in Shabbat together with discussion and songs, and the parents enjoyed excellent sessions on warm and effective parenting, schooling, Israeli cultural adaptation and more, while the children were busy with creative activities with our student madrichim. The atmosphere of the seminar was wonderful, if not a bit noisy...

I used to love participating in Jewish activities and hikes with Shishi Shabbat Yisraeli, but was sure it was over after I had children! Now I’ve found my community again, just when I needed them most. It is so important to talk to parents with the same challenges!

We’ve lived 3 years in Israel and but never experienced Shabbat before this weekend.
