ARGAMAN PROJECT

DESIGN MUSIUM IN HOLON. EXHIBITION “OVERDOSED”
June 24th, 2022 – Tel Aviv and Central Region

Our guide Asya started by talking about the Argaman and Shishi Shabbat Israeli projects, and the history of the Design Museum in Holon. Then we walked through the new exhibition, discussed the approach of the curators, of Glila Barzilai Hollander's collection and the importance of the viewer's eye. We walked around two floors and discussed the place of the history of objects (for example, chairs or tires) in understanding local history and culture. We talked about going beyond ordinary thinking and the place of materialism in our modern lives. After the tour, we discussed what each of us found and is taking away from this exhibition.

What an excellent exhibition and tour! Many thanks to Argaman - without Asya, I would have missed many new perspectives from this visit.

OPENING OF SUMMER SEMESTER: MUSEOLOGY IN ISRAEL
June 14th, 2022 – Tel Aviv and Central Region

We started by getting to know the participants, introducing the Argaman project plans for the summer semester and introducing our lecturer Natalia Kopelyanskaya, art curator and museologist.

Natalie told us about her Aliyah and how her exploration of Israel's museum scene began. She shared with us the features of museum life in Israel, an “island state” located far from countries where the main "art events" take place.

We discussed what we like about the museums of the world, what we still lack in Israeli museums and what museums Israel does best - archaeological museums and national parks.

Very interesting meeting and lecturer. I just arrived in Israel and now I will understand much better what awaits me in local museums. I am so glad that there are such projects here as Argaman, for I come from the world of art. These meetings will help me a lot to adapt to Jewish and Israeli culture.
