Friday Shabbat Retreat #86, Tel Hai
18.06.2022
We began this Retreat in a long traffic jam on our bus going north, but continued it with a joyful water hike and a L'chaim on three types of local berry liquer with 50 fantastic young Olim - many of whom came to Israel very recently from Russia and Ukraine. Our focus over Shabbat was understanding and fixing the Sin of the Spies – speaking positively about the Land and People of Israel. We sang as shabbat came in and left us, enjoyed fantastic group dynamics and workshops by our lecturers and participants, and per usual came away with many new friends and memories.
I want to express my gratitude to Shishi Shabbat and all its leaders for the opportunity to have such a good time with great people. I've only been in the country for a year and a half, and I'm converting - not an easy path, but a wonderful one. I attended a seminar for the first time - we discussed important moral and aesthetic topics, had a great tour, learned important historical facts, and most importantly, were able to fully celebrate Shabbat in a circle of amazing people. I acquired new knowledge and got to know many other Olim who share my outlook on life. Thank you for the opportunity to get closer to our land and people!
