VOLUNTEERING WITH NEW OLIM FROM THE WAR ZONE - JULY 2022

About 34,000 Russian-speaking Olim made their home in Israel over the past 6 months, and in July, our volunteers continued assisting them in Jerusalem and throughout Israel with personal needs, translations in the Ministry of Internal Affairs, help finding apartments (signing contracts, filling out checks, communicating with owners), job-searching through our Employment telegram channel, providing support in hospitals and with medical insurance, making online appointments, broadening our Olim.live volunteer base to help with all bureaucratic needs, and seeking volunteer hosts to expand our “Shabbat Host” project for hospitality on Shabbat and the upcoming holidays.
We also began working closely with the Haifa Municipality, which send us daily Olim requests for assistance, and organizing and accompanying groups of new olim to city tours and museums in Haifa, . In July, our popular weekly informational Zoom webinars “Israel: A User Manual” were attended by hundreds of new Olim. Topics covered were Health Services and Medical Insurance, Renting Apartments, Employees Rights, Pension and Life insurance, and Olim Service in the IDF.
