OLIM EMPOWERMENT – AN EVENING ON THE STATE COMPTROLLER

The State Comptroller also acts as the Public Complaints Commissioner, through the Public Complaints Bureau.
In this meeting our new Olim learned how to file complaints and how this department helps defend civil rights.

Thanks to the Complaints Bureau Coordinators, we learned about their day-to-day job, how they help people, heard real stories, and asked our questions. We were invited to a department meeting to solve our personal issues.

ROSH HASHANA PARTY AT MOISHE HOUSE!

We started this festive evening introducing the many projects of Shishi Shabbat Israeli and our collaboration with Moishe House. Asya Fix gave a short lecture about Rosh haShana, it’s traditions, meanings and symbols. We then partook of the traditional Rosh haShana feast, including the many delicious symbolic foods and their blessings for the New Year! During this feast, we held several funny contests and raffled off holiday prizes. We finished with a musical jam and dancing to great jazz music

It was a lovely party – my thanks to Asya for such a creative presentation! Now I feel that I know much more about this “Rosh haShana thing”. It was a little bit crowded, but I enjoyed every minute.

MAKING ROSH HASHANA RESOLUTIONS, WITH A RABBI AND PSYCHOLOGIST!

Rabbi Igal Dubinsky and Dr. Tatyana Konshin helped us celebrated this beautiful pre-Rosh Hashanah evening with Jewish wisdom and sangria.
We summarised last year's events and achievements, made personal New Year plans and mapped our goals, using metaphorical cards and visualization.

Oh, it was lovely! Such quality, productive time with amazing people! It was a significant meeting for me and the sangria was delightful!

EXCURSION TO THE ERETZ ISRAEL MUSEUM

On this trip we explored the extremely interesting Eretz Israel Museum in Tel Aviv University.

We visited an exhibition of tableware and glass items, from the private collection of the Museum Founder Dr. Walter Moses, which shows glass objects through history.

The temporary photo exhibition “Hope”, arranged to celebrate the tenth anniversary of Tel Aviv's proclamation as a world city, featured the best photographs of the Picta Award winners at the HOPE exhibition in the Victoria and Albert Museum in London. Photographers from around the world showcased progress and positive change - moments of victory in the face of adversity, successful attempts to fix and rehabilitate the natural world, and ways that optimism promotes change.

After the guided part of the tour, the participants were given time to explore the museum's other exhibitions.

TABLE GAMES EVENING IN BAT YAM

This evening of Table Games was really warm, not only because of the weather, but because we were happy to meet again in a nice company and in our cozy place.

We traditionally welcomed newcomers, made small introductions about Shishi Shabbat Israeli and our future events. When all the discussion was over we formed several game tables and started our evening. This time we had professional table gamers who brought their games.

This is my third time. Usually I join the table with simple games to just enjoy the community, but today I joined a big strategy game and had a lot of fun. It seems that people around me opened up during the game, more than usual. Just an interesting fact to share:) Thanks to Shishi Shabbat in Bat Yam.

HIKING WITH A LEGIONNAIRE IN THE CARMEL NATURE RESERVE

An experienced mountain hiker and guide Alex Blumkin, showed us the beauty of the Carmel nature reserve and its history through his authentic legionnaire costumes. We made a circular route with descents and ascents under the shade of trees. This walk was full of beautiful views, icebreakers and information and ended with a picnic and juicy watermelon.

Thanks for the organization and the unusual trip. I had a fantastic time!

THREE CASTLES SECRETS: LATRUN, NEBI SAMUEL, TZUBA

The Holy Land has been ruled by different powers, states and religious leaders in different historical periods. The Holy Land has always attracted pilgrims, "soldiers of fortune", and is still a place of confrontation and struggle.

Throughout the Middle Ages, Christians repeatedly tried to return to Jerusalem and control the Holy Land". The crusaders left many traces here, including castles and fortresses, standing along the roads leading to the eternal city of Jerusalem.

Shishi Shabbat Israeli organized a 4- hour bus excursion from Tel Aviv to these places, led by Dima Esterkin. The participants of out tour traveled from fortress to fortress like 11th century pilgrims, learning about the most significant events and battles, in Latrun, Nebi Samuel and the fire-surviving community of Tzuba.
