This was an amazing course. I also read a lot at home, so we would have time during the lectures to discuss the texts. We read both classic and modern authors such as Bialik and the poetess Rachel, Edgar Keret and Meir Shalev, which also shed light on the formation and growth of Israeli society. Olga was a superb and very interesting lecturer!

It was so great to participate in the seminar. During the week there is no time to travel and to meet new people. At the seminar you jump out of routine, like a breath of fresh air. In these 2 days we saw real pioneering life and hiked in Nitzana, learned a lot about history and Rosh Hashana from Eliezer, Vagif and other great moderators, ate good food, met new friends, tasted the atmosphere of Shabbat, and felt that we are a part of community which is close to us!

On August 23 we explored the Tel Aviv History Museum with our wonderful guide Zeev. Housed in the building of the old City Hall, the numerous photos and exhibits of the museum portray early life in the first modern Jewish city, milestones in its creation, and plans for its future development.
On September 23, we hiked the Yarkon River in north Tel Aviv, beginning with Yehoshua Park and ending at the sea.
Our guide Dima told the participants dozens of facts and shared interesting secrets and stories about characters associated with this river - including wildlife (the penguin and crocodile), the founder of modern Hebrew, and the mysterious spy story that ended on the banks of the Yarkon river.
On October 25, members of our community went on an excursion to a little-known museum in Ramla, and perfect for lovers of equipment, cars, trucks, special vehicles and our country’s history! All the historical vehicles were in excellent condition and participants explored them for 2 hours. We understood what life was like without air conditioning, in difficult conditions, and which countries helped Israel with their vehicles in the construction of new cities.Leonid G.

The area the new central bus station of Tel aviv is one of the least celebrated parts of the “White City”. But summer is a hot time, and we decided to make a hot tour! Our guide Max Izikson took us through what was once Neve Sheanan - an exemplary Jewish settlement, full of peasants, artisans and teachers, Sabras and new immigrants, Ashkenazi and Sephardi. Then, something went wrong and today it is full of poor people, foreign workers and refugees, and people without a specific residence or occupation. The walls are painted with graffiti, and the Station itself hides hundreds of secrets.
Max told in detail about the illegal businesses, the architectural frenzy of the area, the Philippine food market, the closed cinema theater, the atomic bomb shelter for 16 thousand people, a unique old library of yiddish books, the streets named after Zionist leaders and the old synagogues. We also learned how the city’s social services are trying to solve the problems of the district.
