On November 10th we participated in a meaningful ceremony in memory of former Prime Minister Yitzchak Rabin.
On November 11th, we toured small business in the Old City of Beersheva - in Hebrew and I understood almost everything! We visited very interesting places including a architectual design studio, a confectioner who shared how she opened her small business and what the city means to her, the youth and young artists’ center, a studio-bar for beer production, a stylish little boutique hotel, the Fringe Theater, a bookstore, a bar and more! It was very interesting and inspiring to hear how fond all these people are of Beersheva and are trying to contribute their part to its development and transformation!

Huge Mazal Tov to German and Dana who met in Shishi Shabbat Yisraeli and married in November. Both the wedding and Sheva Brachot at our house were incredibly joyful! And Mazal Tov to Chana and Sasha who gave birth to a gorgeous baby girl in December. May you raise Hodaya in great health and happiness until 120 together!!!

In Haifa, new Shishi Shabbat Yisraeli members gathered together in a friend’s sukkah for tea and games.
In Beersheva, watching the movie Ushpizin together Thursday night was my first exposure to Jewish cinema! An interesting film about the life of Chassidic people. This film can only be really understood by those familiar with Israel and religion, so at the end of the film we had a very useful discussion about religious Jewish families around the world. Guests from the city municipality also participated. Thanks for this great evening!

Is buying an apartment in Israel a reality or a dream? During the holiday season, we make plans for the future. Helping our olim to create homes in Israel is a main priority for Shishi Shabbat Yisraeli, so on September 15th, we invited real estate advocate Oleg Slavutsky to present the challenges and important details of buying an apartment in Israel. What documents are required for a bank mortgage? What are the duties of a lawyer? How to avoid mistakes? He shared many tips from his experience and answered questions for 3 hours.
On the creative side, before Sukkot, we organized an ArtZehut masterclass with artist Ksenia, creating holiday symbols and learning techniques of acrylic painting. Our participants left this workshop with their own artworks and a holiday mood.

The theme of this year’s all-night Hoshana Raba Study Festival was Jewish National Renewal - political, economic, philosophical, and cultural. Dr. Mordechai Kedar was our amazing keynote speaker, and he surveyed modern Jewish history and geopolitical situation of Israel. He reminded almost 200 young FSU olim in attendance that they are a main reason for Israel’s rising birthrate (average 3 children in Olim families!). Participants enjoyed excellent discussions, and presentations by top facilitators on Israel’s economic, Jewish philosophical and cultural innovations, including Jewish art and Music workshops and afantastic sunrise tiyul to the Old City.

The trip on Sukkot was just amazing. I recently finished my army service and was so happy to meet new people, laugh with them a lot while hiking in wonderful places in our country like Aminadav Forest and tasting wine in Ela Valley Winery. Our guides were very interesting and great people. This day definitely gave me a festive feeling, thanks to Shishi Shabbat Yisraeli and Nefesh b’ Nefesh. It is a privilege to be part of such a great and amazing community!

What an interesting place. There is life in the desert! I am new in the
country I can say that the Negev surprises me more and more. Interesting
people live here, engaged in a wide variety of businesses. We learned about this during the most amazing interactive lecture with Shishi Shabbat Yisraeli, using simulators. For example, we calculated how much time and with what buildings and job creation we need to populate a certain part of the Negev. We watched a great video about various areas of the Negev and the people who live there.

Our first guest on August 1st was Alena Novgorodskaya, who arrived in Israel with the Masa program only two years ago and created the Global
Israeli Initiative platform, which organizes business tours of Israeli companies and encourages foreign investment.
On August 13th our guest was Dr. Mark Eidelman, head of the Pediatric Orthopedics Dept in Rambam medical center and professor at the Technion. He shared his career path and many insights into Israeli medicine.
