DAVAI GROUP THEATER "UNDER CONSTRUCTION"
January 20th, 2022 – Tel Aviv and Central Region
The DAVAI Group Theater is a traditional clowning theater, one in all of Israel. Its organizers are three repatriates from the former USSR, who themselves write, stage and perform performances almost without words. These are the stories of little people in which there is a lot of self-irony and you can easily recognize yourself. The play Under Construction is the story of three guys who just want to have a morning cup of tea, but there are many obstacles in their way. After the performance, we talked with the actors for an hour and asked them a variety of questions.
It was such an atmosphere, at the performance and after during a conversation with the artists. I enjoyed it a lot and now I want to go to another performance of these guys. Thank you for introducing me to their work, this is a huge charge of inspiration.

BACKSTAGE AT THE HABIMA THEATER
January 7th, 2022 – Tel Aviv and Central Region
Our backstage tour of Habima, declared by Ben Gurion to be Israel’s National Theater started with an overview of it history, from its beginnings in Moscow in 1917. Then a Habima Actor Shlomi took us to an auxiliary corridor full of collected illustrations and costume designs for various Habima performances since its founding. He shared his personal story and led us through the dressing room, the huge warehouse of costumes and the theater halls, explaining what each are used for. We finished at the historical exhibition that includes installations of two rooms that belonged to the great prima actress of Habima Theater - Hanna Rovina.
I always dreamed of going to the Habima theater and see how everything works behind the scenes. It was more than I’ve expected- thank you ARGAMAN for this great opportunity.

Despite the cold and rainy weather, the bar and our event had a cozy and warm atmosphere. Table games help us make new acquaintances in an easy, exciting way. Laughter, conversation and friendly competition made this evening important and memorable..
I came to this games evening for the first time with friends, and we really liked it. We met new people, discovered new games, relaxed from our work and studies, and had a lot of fun!

Our good friend Rabbi Yigal met with us right after Shabbat and we made Havdala together, with singing and discussions about Tu BiShvat. We learned why we are not planting the trees this “shemita” year and the many exciting traditions and values this holiday brings. The conversation was fascinating and informative, and Rabbi Yigal answered our multiple questions. Mulled wine and more guitar songs afterwards created a warm, festive atmosphere.
It was great to meet old friends and new people. As always, Yigal shared very interesting facts about Jewish traditions, with wine and sweet dates and other fruits that made this a special evening. Thank you, Shishi Shabbat Yisraeli and Rabbi Yigal Dubinsky.

Roma Liberov is an author and film director, producer of cultural projects and initiatives, and a curator of exhibitions. We participated in the screening of his film "ILFANDPETROV" in the Jerusalem Cinemateque.
Ilya Ilf and Yevgeny Petrov were two Soviet authors from the 1920s and ‘30s who grew up in Odessa and did much of their writing together. They are almost always referred to as "Ilf and Petrov."
Their books became classics of world literature, including "The Twelve Chairs," "A Little Golden Calf," "One-Story America," and more.
We were honored to watch the film together with Roma, who calls the genre of his works "mixed media," using documentary and staged shooting, animation, puppet and shadow theater, installations, computer graphics, and artistic scenes behind the frame.

We enjoyed a cozy and welcoming creative evening with Anna Bell - an artist and owner of a creative studio and hand-made art exhibitions in Haifa. While drinking cocoa with marshmallows, Anna Bell showed us innovative weaving machines, described the history of modern embroidery, the ebru technique of water color painting and the secrets of creating beautiful linen products and textiles today.
We found inspiration, new acquaintances, and exciting conversation all in a magical atmosphere.
It was a wonderful evening! I didn’t know that there is such a creative, exciting place in Haifa where you can meet like-minded people who love creativity. It was interesting to paint on water and take it home as a keepsake.

Hebrew teacher Yevgeny Treyberman brought us an unusual treat before the new year. What is usually taught in Ulpan? Everyday Hebrew for shopping, polite conversation or literary Hebrew ... what a bore. We organized a meeting with another type of Hebrew - slang. The participants got acquainted with the most common modern words of slang in Hebrew, learned several slang phrases, and also the history of street slang, with its origins in many languages including Arabic and Russian, the peculiarities of certain words and the transformation of slang over time.

Thanks to our lecturer Raphael Shohat, we became acquainted with texts of the Tanakh and discussed the misconceptions, errors, and preconceived notions associated with this Book of books. Raphael's lecture on the Tanakh was as mysterious and enigmatic as a class on ancient scriptures can be. Raphael deeply immersed us in the texts and between the lines, introduced us to the world of conspiracy theories, the magic of numbers, signs, symbols, and other strange and funny patterns in the text. This was an interesting presentation with a lot of humor and references to pop culture. Even if you have never been interested in Torah and texts, then this lecture definitely sowed the seed of further exploration, and the understanding that the Tanakh can be fascinating, informative, and saturated with mysticism.
