TABLE GAMES EVENING IN BAT YAM

We met the week before New Year to fulfill our monthly tradition and play some table games, to talk and to gain some winter mood. As a bonus to our traditional beer and snacks we brought cocoa and marshmallows Then we shared our plans for Shishi Shabbat in Bat Yam for the next couple of months and discussed the upcoming Noviy God:)

I wouldn't say something new, I come here every month to play games and to chat with cool people. I think that the best feedback is that people keep coming and having fun. So thank you Shishi Shabbat for the place you found and the atmosphere that you keep making for us.

We spent this evening in our favorite and cozy Rodeo bar in cheerful company with table games! Board games are a unique experience to share with friends and new acquaintances. It's an opportunity to get to know each other better, and a well-chosen game reveals the players' best qualities. New acquaintances, laughter, and good competition of games made this evening memorable for a long time.

As always, our favorite and cozy Rodeo bar welcomed us in cheerful company.

A great evening and exciting games full of fun and laughter! I even won a one-game set!

ARGAMAN PROJECT

ISRAELI THEATER - FROM HABIMA TO TODAY

Israeli actor and theater director Leon Moroz first shared the his own story, his aliya and his life path as an actor and theater director. Then he gave an overview ofe history of Israeli theater, how it started and the influence of different “Aliyot” on it development. We discussed modern Israeli theater, how it reflects modern Israel society and this differs from the role of Russian theater in the cultural life of Russian society.

Leon also shared with us how and where to look for good performances. We ended the meeting with a nice discussion about the future of peforming theater art in Israel and in the world, and how Covid-19 may be accelerating the awareness of the need for these changes.

I live in Jerusalem, and when I signed up for the winter semester of the Argaman project, I was not sure that I would come to this lecture, especially in such stormy weather. But it was so great! Leon is a very interesting person and shares important things. It was a very warm and friendly atmosphere, and I was glad to meet other people who share my interests.

BUS TOUR TO HERODION NATIONAL PARK

At Herodion, King Herod challenged the forces of nature. In the first century BCE, the great builder created one of the most daring structures of the ancient world. Our guide Dima Esterkin organized a bus tour to visit this national park on the edge of the Judean Desert and help participants get acquainted with the beauty of this mountain complex and the extraordinary king who built it.

Herodion was the amazing palace of a mysterious man!

The participants learned the secrets of this grandiose complex, and how archeologist searched for and finally found the grave of this famous king and what it looked like. They also learned why this man, whose name is known to almost every person on Earth, is he called both Herod the Great and the most terrible tyrant king.

HANUKKAH PAINTING WORKSHOP WITH KIRA BONDARENKO

In this workshop, Kira helps us creating a still life with Hanukkah donuts, revealing the secrets of decorating with various textures and the practical rules of painting using acrylics.

Thanks to the facilitator of our master class, I worked with acrylics for the first time and liked it. I took a break from my work, enjoyed the Hanukkah atmosphere, and now I have a still life painting with donuts as a memory from that meeting.

OLIVE OIL - HISTORICAL AND CULINARY PERSPECTIVES, AND OPENING OF JERUSALEM CLUB

In the spirit of Chanuka, we inaugurated the “Jerusalem Club” and a new study festival series entitled “The Essence of Things”, in collaboration with the Begin Heritage Center and the Israel Nature Museum of Jerusalem. The topic was Olive Oil – its Jewish symbolism and connection to the Land of Israel, history, agronomy, and health and culinary attributes. Lecturers included Yisrael Galon, an agronomist and horticulturist from the Technion, archeologist Baruch Yuzefovsky, Nature Museum Director Evgeny Reznitsky, author and historian Igor Tribelsky, and guide and Chef Mikhail Burman, who help cap off our evening with an increasingly popular Israeli dessert – ice cream drizzled in olive oil!

I loved the format of this evening – live jazz music and short lectures. It was interesting and dynamic. I also liked that there was time before the lectures where I could chat with friends in a pleasant atmosphere of live music and drinks – very classy! And of course the venue itself was beautiful. Thank you for an enjoyable and educational experience.

HANUKKAH KOSHER QUIZ IN HAIFA

Kosher Quiz is an intellectual game for everyone interested in modern Israel, Jewish culture, and everything in between. We spent this festive evening with the creator and founder of Kosher Quiz games Alexey Demchenko and our good friend Rabbi Igal Dubinsky. The evening was full of puzzles, mind-breaking tasks, prizes, traditions and stories and a festive Hanukkah atmosphere.

I liked the game, and we even won second place, and were happy with this result! It was interesting to learn more about Hanukkah from the rabbi in an informal atmosphere, and the sufgoniyot were delicious! Thank you, Shishi Shabbat Yisraeli!

EVENING OF HANUKKAH STORIES

On the last day of Chanukah we gathered in Bat Yam to listen to the story of holiday from Vlad Telman, light the Chanukiah together, eat some sufganiot and enjoy each other's company! In spite of the cold and heavy rain outside, we had over 20 participants from Bat Yam and nearby cities. Vlad told us the history, legends, and many personal stories connected with the Chanukah holiday.

Vlad is an outstanding lecturer and storyteller, and I really enjoyed this evening! Special thanks to Asia and Natasha for creating this cozy atmosphere and making the hot cocoa:)

OPERATION LIGHT UP#10! CELEBRATING HANUKKAH WITH SURVIVORS AND VETERANS

Hanukkah volunteering is a 10-year dear tradition of Shishi Shabbat Yisraeli – sharing the light and expressing our gratitude the very real heroes who fought for our freedom and still live among us! In Haifa, Bat Yam, Tel Aviv and Beersheva we organized musical evenings with guitars, and gifts of hot water bottles, food, and sufganiyot in Assisted Living homes and in the apartments of home-bound elderly. We lit Hanukkah candles, sang, danced, shared our stories, and created a really warm winter holiday evening. Our young volunteers received blessings and advice for their new lives in Israel and saw joyful eyes and smiles hidden behind the masks of our veterans. Our thanks to the Masa groups and municipalities who collaborated with us in these wonderful events.

Thank you so much for bringing us this amazing holiday atmosphere!! I almost forgot how great home concerts can be. Vlad and Sasha are so talented and I enjoyed every moment of this event. Please, please come again!
