Together with Israeli guide, photographer, and researcher of Diaspora Jewish communities Alex Tabak we followed the paths of the Jewish People and its "black traders." It was a real virtual tour around cities of Eastern Europe, where we saw hidden places that belonged to our ancestors: houses, synagogues, and cemeteries. We heard stories of different people who impacted the world, who were mostly forgotten by their local neighbors, but are not forgotten by us.
It's fantastic to understand what a great legacy the Jewish people left in history, and how many new inspirational stories there are to learn! I enjoyed every minute of the lecture - it was like flipping through a family photo album with a friend. It evoked in me the desire to tour Eastern Europe right now!

In collaboration with Beersheva Municipality, we enjoyed a fantastic tour to the Anzac Soldiers Memorial Center, which tells the incredible story of Australian and New Zealand soldiers and their horses who conquered Beersheba and the Turks in World War I. We continued our exploration of the British cemetery and other historical sites in the Old City of Beersheba. We also visited a local boutique-brewery, where we learned the secrets of beer production and the uniqueness of Australian beers, including tasting the best local beers produced at the brewery!
It was a great tour...albeit in masks. We learned a lot of new things, saw a fantastic interactive Museum. I didn't even know that we have one in our city. We listened to the history of the local brewery and watched a film about how Australian and New Zealand soldiers influenced our city's history. We continued our excursion with flashlights in the British cemetery next to the Anzac Museum and heard from the museum guide the amazing personal stories of the soldiers, who they were, and what contribution they made to the victory, and found the grave of the only Jewish soldier in this cemetery. A unique place with amazing true-life stories. It touched my heart!

GUIDED TOUR OF YAKOV AGAM MUSEUM
July 3rd, 2020
Beginning at the entrance to the Yakov Agam Museum in Rishon LeTzion, the Museum guide shared the life story of the artist and how his childhood in a religious family influenced his works and his perception of God. From the point of view of Yakov Agam God is simultaneously everywhere, and questions of God are questions of time and space.
The guide led us through the exhibits, showing how Yakov Agam “freezes” time and allows objects in his works to exist simultaneously in four dimensions. The participants were captivated the entire time, asked many questions connected to art and physics and the expression of the Divine in the art of Yakov Agam.
“Thank you very much for organizing this tour for us – I would definitely not have understood what the work of this artist is about. It was an absolutely new experience for me. It left me with a lot of room for thoughts and time to reflect, and I feel that I will return to them after a while”

TOUR-BEIT MIDRASH WITH ALEX TABAK "TEL AVIV MON AMOUR"
July 20th, 2020
The entire tour with Alex Tabak was based on real stories of love that took place in Tel Aviv in the 30's. We started with the story of Abraham Shlonsky and his poems "Me and Tali upside down". After that we walked a bit down Ben Yehuda street and devoted a part of the lecture to the history of Ben Yehuda and how the Hebrew laguage was created, than walked down Bialik street, learning about the work of Reuven Ruben (while viewing his artwork) and listening to the love poems of Haim Nachman Bialik. We continued to walk towards the city enter, talking about the work of Chernikhovsky and his influence on modern Hebrew, remembered the love of Meir Dizengoff and his wife Tsina and ending up in a little known alley next to the Shapiro family mansion.
“It was very romantic! Tel Aviv at night, poems and stories about love. Alex Tabak is a unique guide who knows how to create an atmosphere and you can see how he truly loves poetry. But the most surprising discovery for me was the translation of Eugene Onegin into Hebrew ”

Where is the line between normality and insanity? When did mental illness first appear, and how have attitudes towards the mentally ill changes throughout human history in different cultures and countries? How was it treated in the past, and how is it treated and supported now? For people with mental illness, this is a daily struggle against an invisible enemy. And even though we consider ourselves to be an open and accepting society, for some reason, we overlook the people who need it the most, and alienate those who should be hugged, before anyone else. Miriam Shekhter discussed these and other topics in a very sensitive and eye-opening discussion.
