We met with Olga for a walking tour to Adjami, one of Jaffa’s neighborhood with a fascinating, even criminal, history. The quiet streets with ancient doors have been transformed by the forces of French millionaires and Tel Aviv architects. The neighborhood is now safer, cleaner, and more beautiful, but something of the past has disappeared. Olga spoke to us about the connection between the Russian revolution and the orchards around Jaffa, the origins of Pushkin Street, and the history of the name Ajami. She showed us the location of an orphanage named after Joseph Stalin, led us across the British bridge, and shared the area's secret places with a fantastic view of the Mediterranean Sea.

After a long enforced Corona break, we were so happy to meet outside for a hiking tour! Our good friend and tour guide Alex Blumkin led our walk on a new trail in Mt. Carmel National Park in Haifa. Fresh air, amazing views of nature, outside games with new and old friends, watermelon, and tea with sweets! What can be better on a long Friday afternoon?!

A Fashkvil is a poster on a public wall in an Haredi Jewish community with a political or spiritual message. Fashkevili are sometimes distributed anonymously, but many are posted with rabbinic endorsements or the name of an activist group. With famous tour guide Israel Maxim Izikson, we learned the history and language of this phenomenon, including unique archival documents that revealed many secrets. These examples showed us how simple anonymous announcements, printed on cheap printing paper, led thousands of people to demonstrations and influenced the worldview of entire communities in Israel.

A pleasant evening with Marina Kremer, we spoke about Jewish literature and two amazing poetesses Rachel and Elisheva, so different and so significant for our literature! They both were born near the Volga River and both buried near each other on the Sea of Galilee. Two pioneers of Israeli poetry, they described to us in Hebrew the beauty of our Land and the Kinneret.

Our good friend and well-known tour guide, Dima Esterkin, spoke to us about the First, Second, and future Third Temple in Jerusalem. What do we know about them? What was the reason for building the first Temple, and where? According to Jewish sources, when will we have a third Temple, and how will it look?
Thank you, Dima, for sharing with us your in-depth knowledge and answering our questions. The Third Temple is one of the most discussed topics in Judaism, and now I know much more about it!

We asked 18 Russian-speaking Jewish leaders and educators from Israel, the FSU and the U.S. to share the portion or idea from Tanach that most influenced their lives. The result was a phenomenal six-hour Pre-Shavuot study festival on Facebook Live with Natan Sharansky, Ariel Bulshtein, Leonid Feldman, Esther Segal, David Wainshtein, Ariel Zlatkin, Ester Inna Reyzer, Yosef Hersonski, Eliyahu Gladshteyn, Binyamin Minich, Pinchas Polonski, Yulia Patrakova and many more figures from across the Jewish spectrum who shared their insights, each for 20 minutes. We learned how a chapter from Psalms helped Natan Sharansky maintain his strength against the KGB, political lessons from the Book of Samuel, the modern relevance of the Ten Commandments, and so much more....
Every hour was moderated by a different Shishi Shabbat City or Program Director. During and since that amazing evening, over 12,000 viewers have watched these lectures on our Facebook page!!

Two thousand years ago, Judea was conquered by Roman armies. We were scattered all over the world - much further than it is commonly believed to think today. Boris shared with us the exotic lands where Jews can be found today - from the ancient capital of China to the stone Manhattan jungles. We all may look different, but follow the same ancient traditions!
After the lecture led by Boris Dolin, I know much more about Jewish communities around the world, why we have so many skin colors and speak different languages. Actually, I never thought enough about this before but now feel like an expert! Thank you s to Boris for sharing his significant research, knowledge and vision with us. I look forward to reading his new book!
