Zionism For Beginners

Igor Gulman spoke to us about the historical, religious, and ideological ideas leading to the creation of the Jewish national movement – Zionism - and Theodor Herzl’s role in it. He discussed Zionism as the original “Spring Of Nations” and analyzed the chain of events that preceded the historical speech of David Ben Gurion at the Museum of Arts in Tel Aviv on Rothschild Boulevard at 16:00 on May 14, 1948.
Igor involved participants in the discussion, including an excellent online voting program and quiz game.

COVID-19 IS NOT A HINDRANCE TO STAYING IN SHAPE AT HOME!

On Friday at 8.30am, we invited our members to start the day with a professional fitness trainer and sports coach, Yana Kiseleva. With over eight years of experience running individual and group classes, she is sure that quarantine is not a reason to relax! Training during this period to stay in shape is critical, especiallay as our total daily activities have been minimized. It’s also important for emotional stability and strengthening our immune system!
We warmed up, did great exercises and distracted ourselves from the current situation. Although we had to wake up earlier than usual, it was great! Thank you Yana and Shishi Shabbat Yisraeli for organizing!

100 Years to “Ruslan” - Anniversary Of The Famous Cruise.

Thanks to the quarantine, we have a unique opportunity to invite guests from all over the world. This time we had a chance to speak with Gera Grudnev, a researcher of Jewish culture and history from Odessa. Gera told us the story of a ship named Ruslan that came from Odessa to Jaffa in 1919. One-fifth of the modern Israeli population is sure that their grandmothers and grandfathers came to Israel on this very ship.
I’ve never heard the story of Ruslan before, thank you for sharing it with us!

ARGAMAN CULTURAL PROJECT

Meeting With Jan Rauchwerger
March 12th , 2020 - Tel Aviv and Central Region

We met with the Argaman group in Kiryat haMelacha next to the studio of an amazing Soviet-Israeli artist, the living legend Jan Rauchwerger. Before entering Jan's studio Sasha Levina (our guide) made a short introduction about his creative path, showed on a screen artworks of different times and different exhibutions. We had a 20-min talk about what kind of person Jan is and what he’s drawing about and prepared some questions about the artist's goals, mission and Israeli realities. Jan met us very warmly, showed his working studio, told about himself, about his life in Russia, America and Israel, explained why he stayed in Israel, showed several paintings and told in detail about what is shown on them, what is visible, and what's behind the scenes.

Was incredibly nice to meet such a famous and prominent artist, chat with him, find out his opinion on contemporary art.

Lecture About The Modern Israeli Art With Alexandra Levina
March 22nd, 2020 - ONLINE

For the first time in Argaman's history we made an online meeting, and it was a success. Many people joined us from their homes, many wrote (and keep writing) the words of gratitude and positive comments, many subscribed to our pages in social media and the mailing list. It really showed us how many people are actually interested in this kind of content but due to personal reasons and lots of work can’t regularly join us during the week.
Sasha gave us a detailed lecture on contemporary Israeli art, spoke about the work and activities of more than 15 Israeli artists and showed their most significant artworks, while simultaneously answering the questions that came from the conference participants to the chat.
Sasha, very interesting and detailed, thanks!

Katarina.

Issues that artists have been addressing in the past couple of years. Insanely interesting, I want more of these online lectures on art. Maybe about the theater and music.

Lisa.

I like that Sasha illuminated different artists and different styles, but without imposing one look. I wanted to know more about everyone.
